Prisoner of the Mind Cole Blackburne character sketches 6

Here are a few practice runs to get the angle right, and land this punch. Prisoner of the Mind issue 4 unleashed tomorrow on Comixology. Check it out.

I've got the basic angle done on this action shot. I was thinking about the jacket either moving left or right depending on how you punch. I thought it would go opposite of the action. I'll probably try it both ways.

And one final unrealistic kick pose. It would either knock your teeth out or put on stage as a dancer. It's fun to draw though.

Prisoner of the Mind Cole Blackburne character sketches 5

Cole character action designs in blue pencil. Trying hard to stay away from the static floating look.

Jump kick, right in the chops. Prisoner of the Mind issue 4 is out on Comixology on Wed. 6-24-15. Check it out!

Prisoner of the Mind Cole Blackburne character sketches 4

Here are two more action shots. I'm trying to get the right mood in the one above. Next week P.O.M. issue number 4 is out on Comixology.

In this sketch, I'm really trying to grab the movement and freeze it for a second without making it look stale. It's a very difficult thing to do. If this were a 3D sculpture, you could almost imagine a hook on top of his head, while he's dangling like a Christmas ornament. That's what I am trying to avoid.

Prisoner of the Mind Cole Blackburne character sketches 3

Prepping for the punch. Just a couple more character designs leading up to issue number 4 released next week on Comixology.

Here's Cole with a pensive look on his face. Got a little Jim Lee pose here.

Prisoner of the Mind Cole Blackburne character sketches 1

Here are just a few character sketches leading up to the launch of issue number 4 of Prisoner of the Mind next week.

Working out movement and fluidity.

Sometimes the clothing can create problems with drawing the body in motion.
